Equanimity Flow - Finding Balance in the New Year w/Buck, January 1st 10:00-11:15 am
“There are only two tragedies in life: One is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it.” - Oscar Wilde
We spend our entire lives trapped in this cycle of craving and aversion - we want to keep what we like, and keep away what we don’t like. When things work out according to plan, we feel this fleeting happiness. And when things don’t work? ... Watch out!
So, how can we keep calm & carry on, no matter the vicissitudes of life? How can we find lasting happiness when nothing lasts forever?
Upekkha (equanimity) is one of the states of mind we must develop on the path to enlightenment. When we are equanimous, we live fully in the present moment, accepting things as they are. We remain unwavering in the face of the ups & downs of life, understanding the true nature of all things: Anicca, or impermanence.
In this dynamic vinyasa practice, with a concentration on balancing postures, we will explore equanimity by using the physical body. We will practice maintaining a calm, quiet mind while developing awareness of the triggers that can take us out of this centered, powerful mental state. We will begin to cultivate the deep inner peace that comes from knowing that all things - pleasant or unpleasant - will certainly change. And we will embark upon the path to bliss as we recognize that this fierce, equanimous mind is strong enough to weather any storm.
Join us on New Year's morning for this special class to begin 2026.
